Common Pitfalls That Drain Your Enthusiasm

Maintaining the wrong friendships. You cannot stay excited about hitting your goals while you are surrounded by so called "friends" who ridicule you and put you down for it. Negative associations rob your enthusiasm.

Solution: Associate with positive uplifting supportive people. Get a whole new set of friends if necessary. Spend time with people who inspire you. Avoid people who berate you and tease you for trying to better yourself.

Focusing on Failure. Failure can get you down. It is easy to get down after making a mistake. It is hard to be excited when you fail over and over again. You come a point where you feel like there is no use in trying again. You feel like you will only end up getting the same results.

Solution: Rather than dwell on the failure learn from it and move on. There is always a lesson to be learned from failure. Gain that piece of experience and use it when you are faced with the same challenges later.

Waiting instead of doing. When you take the passive approach and wait on the best time to get started you end up waiting for far too long. The perfect opportunity never seems to come.

Solution: Rather than waiting for the perfect time to start just start right now. Get busy doing what you can. As you work you will begin to see more opportunity to improve your results. It is easier to improve upon your efforts than it is try to figure everything out in your head before you make any moves.
