Is Fear Holding You Back? 7 Practical Steps to Gain Confidence

Fear is a powerful foe! It paralyzes us and holds us back from reaching our full potential. If we are afraid of failure we will never win. Giving in to anxiety means we've already been defeated.

Even though we know that being afraid may be absurd it doesn't change the fact that it is holding us back. So how do you overcome this debilitating force?

7 Steps to Overcoming Fear and Conquering Your Dreams:

1. Realize the damage fear can cause you. Admitting your apprehension is the first step to conquering it. When you realize you are worried or anxious you can now take steps to overcome the forces holding you back.

2. Acknowledge it for what it is. When you carefully evaluate exactly what you dread you will often find the answer to moving on. You will see the absurdity of your fear or take steps to minimize it.

3. Strengthen you belief in your potential. Your belief determines your outcome. Strengthen your belief by believing the best about yourself. See yourself with power and abilities that are within you, waiting for you to acknowledge and release that potential.

4. Focus on the present. Now is all you have and Now is where your power is! You cannot change the past and you can only prepare for tomorrow as you live now. Focus on what you can do right now.

5. Look anxiety in the face. When you admit that you are afraid and decide to face it and move ahead despite it you will overcome this devastating emotion, not just for the moment but for life. As you face your fears the force of them is minimized.

6. Have a healthy attitude toward fear. Some times this emotion is genuine and helpful. Most times it is not. Look objectively at why you feel the way you do and determine if it is worthy of you giving up your future. This will help you decide whether you want to tackle your terror or give in to it. Your attitude towards it is most important. Will you allow it to rob you of your future?

7. Turn your fear into force. The greatest way to defeat that feeling of being afraid is to move through it. Take action immediately to conquer the thing you dread the most. The longer you wait to take action the greater it grows. The moment you take action the terror starts subsiding and as you keep working at your task that you used to be afraid of you will discover that the thing you feared was not really that frightening.

In order to stay productive and heading toward success we need to learn to overcome the paralyzing deceiver called fear!
