The Power of Positive Affirmations

I don't exercise very much but I actually love to run. The problem is that I don't really run much. Most of it is walking and then I feel like a failure. I recently discovered a little trick that has helped me be more of a runner and less of a walker. As I run I begin to recite in my mind (sometimes even out loud) my positive affirmations. I need to concentrate on them because I'm a stickler for detail and I want to make sure I am reciting them word for word, and I also want to recite them with meaning, so that I truly feel and visualize what I am saying and thinking. Lo and behold, before I knew it I found I had run further than ever before because I had taken my mind off the running and was concentrating on something else! Now, if you try this trick you need to keep your eyes peeled for potholes, dogs foaming at the mouth and moms driving their mini-vans while talking on a cell phones.

Another excellent time to recite your affirmations is right before you fall asleep at night. I am going to post my affirmations below and I hope this doesn't come back to haunt me. I'm doing this more as an example of what you can put together for yourself. From what I've read affirmations are self-serving so please don't read mine and think that I'm an egomaniac or a narcissist. I'm actually fairly humble and the affirmations help boost my self-esteem and allow me to love myself and think of myself as a successful, loving human being, which I am, of course!

Here we go:

I am loved

I am beautiful

I am skinny

I am loving

I have a wonderful man who loves me and takes care of me

My guardian angels protect me

Everything I touch turns to gold

I sell Power Pops in abundance

I am abundantly successful on the Internet

I am abundant

As you can see I am "affirming" for weight loss by already visualizing myself as skinny. I am also projecting my business success by currently visualizing myself as abundant. I do this to the point that an image of me making huge deposits at the ATM flashes in my mind.

Positive affirmations are something to try. I feel that any time you are projecting positive energy you are pushing away negativity and what could be wrong with that?
